About Me
I love to cook, and I love to Eat, whatever I cook is delicious because I mix love with it. I use natural ingredients in season and make every dish look appetizing.
I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, therefore my favorite food is from the Caribbean. Some of the ingredients are tamarind, guava, coconut milk, bananas and plantains just to mention a few of the unlimited bounty of exotic and extra ordinary options available in my kitchen.
I will guide you to some of my favorite recipes hoping that you will enjoy my style of cooking. Any way, my passion for cooking started when my Mother went to visit my sick Grandmother and I was trusted with running the house. I was seventeen and ever since I cook for my own pleasure. That was long time ago. I have been married for thirty five years and the only thing that my husband doesn’t like to eat is “Mangu” (my favorite).
Mangu is number one staple in the D.R. (Dominican Republic), and when combined with a second dish of your choice, stew chicken, fried salami. eggs sauteed with onions, avocado salad, pork “chicharon” or melted cheese, is a very nutritious delicious experience. The combinations are endless. So, are you ready to take a journey with me?
Oh! I forgot to tell you that I now live in Miami Lakes, FL where anything you need is easy to find thanks to the international population mix. I go to any supermarket around my neighborhood and get everything I need in one stop.
I like to cook because is very relaxing, I grow the herbs I use in small pots on my Condo balcony. I have a wooden wine box with my salsa garden: tomatoes, jalapenos, tomatillos, cilantro and chives. Others like rosemary, basil and thyme I plant in terracotta pots. So lets start cooking!!!!!
